My Approach to Helping
I am a trained listener who can help you shift into the person or couple you want to be. We can take as long as you need to get to a better, happier, more balanced place. I create a supportive space where you can expect guidance, insight, and just a little bit of humor, to help you identify and move towards your goals. Do you want to speak with someone who truly listens, engages with you, and can help you with ongoing struggles or conflicts? Family and friends may give advice when you aren't wanting it, or tire of hearing about your struggles. Therapy is different.
I have experience working individuals, couples, children ages 10 and up, adolescents, and families who are struggling with a variety of issues. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a highly effective, evidence-based, technique for resolving unprocessed memory related to trauma in order to increase coping and reduce symptoms such as anxiety and triggers. I am also currently training in DBT which is a powerful tool in empowering people to increase coping and reduce anxiety symptoms utilizing mindfulness training and other tools. My background in and passion for working with diverse populations allows me to meet you where you are, but also makes space for you to explore your whole self in a culturally sensitive and informed atmosphere.
