My Approach to Helping

“We must learn to regard people less in the light of what they do or omit to do, and more in the light of what they suffer from.” – Bonhoeffer

Charles Nix approaches counseling in a way where he works to understand the whole of the person andor relationship. There are many things that influence who we are, and what we value. We have countless amounts of experiences, good and bad, as kids and through our adult years, that shape who we are. Charles is a dependable, warm, creative, and honest counselor, who will walk with you in this process and meet you where you are with understanding, and compassion. He is passionate and dedicated to providing a safe, and supportive environment where his clients can strive towards their own change and growth. Whether you are suffering from stress, relational problems, meaning, growth, or just need to process anything without judgement, Charles would be honored to be a part of your journey.

At Foundations Counseling, Charles Nix works with a variety of clients who seek services, including:

• Mental Health and Wellness – depression, anxiety, anger management, life transitions, boundaries, holistic health, grief and loss, stress

• Relationship and Couples Counseling – couples counseling, divorce, separation, communication, sexuality and intimacy issues, parent-child interactions, attachment issues and disorders, boundaries

• Adolescents and Teens – self-esteem and self-worth issues, depression, anxiety, family issues, parenting challenges, loss of a parent or loved one, life coaching and goal setting, play therapy, performancebehavior issues

• Individual Counseling – empowerment, life coaching, perfectionism, self-esteem and self-worth issues, divorce recovery, catastrophic thinking, trauma

Charles Nix has a Master in Marriage and Family Therapy Degree from Abilene Christian University. He also received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Vocational MissionsMinistry from Abilene Christian University. Charles utilizes approaches from emotionally focused therapy (EFT), narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), child play therapy, and person-centered therapy.
