My Approach to Helping

I would describe myself as an empathic, thoughtful, and easy-going individual who is devoted to helping those going through stressful and difficult times. I work from a client-centered approach with the belief that my clients are the experts of their own lives. I believe that each person is their own individual healer and my job as a therapist is to support you through every step of that journey. Everybody’s healing journey will be different and therefore my approaches and techniques will vary from client to client as we all view the world a different way. I emphasize building strong therapeutic relationships. My most important priority is to create a safe and supportive environment for you. With support, also comes challenging you to become the best version of yourself. As your therapist, I take the perspective that you and I are fellow travelers on a journey towards healing and self-actualization.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

All of us have been wounded in one way or another. Some from little 't' traumas and some from big 'T' traumas. We cannot compare one trauma to another as we all cope in different ways. Some of us feel that we should not feel a certain way because "people have had it worse" and therefore have feelings of guilt or shame when we feel sad. I felt this way when I was going through my own struggles. When I chose to seek out therapy I realized that we feel the way we feel for a reason and our feelings should always be validated. Sometimes it is just nice to feel heard and I am here to do that for you.
