What's My Approach to Therapy?
Jenn Betts, founder and CEO of the Calgary Institute of Counselling, started the agency to bring a change to the world of counselling and psychology. After her many unhelpful and hurtful experience with some of her own psychologists she knew things needed to change. She therefore started the Calgary Institute of Counselling. Jenn, and her Psychologists have a high bar when it comes to counseling. She believes that healing can happen for all clients. That people are not born anxious or depressed. That people can get better. At the agency Jenn and her team believe that counselling is most effective with a strong clientcounsellor relationship. They all counsel from an empathic and collaborative approach with their clients. Jenn’s desire is that all clients feel emotionally safe at her agency.
There is not one size fits all to counselling Jenn believes. This is why her agency offers family counselling, couples counselling, children and teen counselling. Sometimes there needs to be a different approach than just individual counselling. Assessments are also done to help understand what is really happening for the client so the proper treatment plan can be created. Assessments include ADHD for children and adults and psychoeducational assessments for children.
