My Approach to Helping
My focus is working with children and young adults on navigating the various stressors and changes experienced in their family, social, and personal lives. I engage clients in exploring the issues and goals that are most in line with their own priorities and perspectives. We work together on processing the impact of relationships and events, providing coping skills to help manage the emotions and thoughts that arise. Children and teens are constantly responding to difficult situations and feelings, and my aim is to provide a reassuring space to reflect on these experiences to better understand their internal responses.
It is important to me to tailor my therapeutic support to each individual's best interests. I draw skills from CBT, trauma-focused therapy, and trust-based relational intervention for validation, encouragement, and challenges appropriate to my client's needs and pacing. I work with issues such as anxiety, depression, bullying, trauma, and substance abuse.
For young people, entering therapy can be an intimidating experience. I strive to provide a safe relationship for children and young adults to express themselves freely and without judgment. I look forward to helping each individual that meets with me in finding the skills and self-supports to improve their daily experiences and grow a stable sense of self.
