My Approach to Helping

Therapy is the one place where a person can be listened to and understood without bias, and with deep understanding. This experience of being understood and valued by being listened to without bias is in itself therapeutic. In therapy, a process begins to occur over time that becomes internalized in a person's mind. By internalized, I mean that the person is able to take the beneficial aspects of the experience with him/her, and hold the feelings and new understandings in mind in a permanent manner.

More Info About My Practice

My fee is $200 an hour. I offer a sliding fee scale so that there is flexibility for individuals who cannot afford my fee. I accept cash, check, or credit card.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Choosing to go to therapy is not a sign of weakness. Quite the contrary. To decide on therapy reflects a willingness to examine oneself and to gain awareness of otherwise unknown aspects of how one operates and impacts his/her own life at a deep level. I am referring to the unconscious aspects that constantly influence our life choices and experiences without our awareness. Everyone is deeply impacted by unconscious processes, and to confront this in therapy is a reflection of strength and capacity to change and adapt...quite the opposite of weakness.

By facilitating this process and by instilling confidence in the therapeutic process, an individual begins to feel stronger about the choice to be in therapy.
