How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
Having experienced life s hardships, I have a heart for helping those who feel trapped in their emotional pain and experience relationship distress. I had both positive and negative experiences while living in Russia (St.Petersburg) for 29 years. The healing process was not easy. By forgiving, I was able to move on with my life and not allow such feelings as bitterness, hatred and anger control my life. With time I was able to heal and live my life fully and joyfully.
Since moving to the United States more than 22 years ago, I started working as a group counselor with children at Orangewood, a shelter for abused and neglected children, volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and as a hotline operator at Lauras House, the agency that was helping survivors of intimate partner violence.
After graduating from the California State University of Fullerton with a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, I have been providing counseling to couples, men, women, children, adolescents, and families. I worked with teenagers who struggled with drug and alcohol addiction and experienced severe trauma. Even though it is not easy, I know that it is possible to stop the cycle of abuse, heal from trauma, and have a joyful and fulfilling life.
