My Approach to Helping

"Hi there, my name is Andrea Thomas. I am a Licensed clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience, specializing in offering professional guidance to adults, children, and families. My professional focus includes stress and anxiety management, trauma and abuse recovery, navigating grief and loss, adapting to life transitions, fostering motivation, enhancing self-esteem, and nurturing self-confidence. I am dedicated to adopting a client-centered approach and integrating a wide array of therapeutic modalities. Within my practice, I integrate a diverse array of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Among the frequently employed methodologies are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused therapy. This approach diversity enables me to tailor our sessions to best address your unique needs, offering you a comprehensive and effective therapeutic experience.

My client focus is geared towards providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds, age groups, and facing a wide array of mental health concerns or seeking personal development. I typically work with a diverse range of clients, including individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, and those seeking personal growth. My practice involves creating a safe space for individuals from various backgrounds, ages, and identities to address their concerns, promoting healing, resilience, and personal development I aim to create an environment that is warm, empathetic, non-judgmental, and supportive. The tone I establish in sessions is one of openness and trust, where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Overall, clients can expect a therapeutic relationship that prioritizes their well-being, growth, and self-discovery, providing a safe space for exploration, reflection, and positive change. I had my first personal therapist when I was 8 years old, during my parents, marital difficulties. Unfortunately, my therapist at that time was not a good listener, and I did not feel safe in her presence. That situation motivated me to become a therapist because not only did I want to help people, but I wanted them to feel safe, heard, and supported. My passion has always been to empower individuals to make positive changes in their lives. I was seeing others reach their fullest potential drives me to do what I do.

Our collaboration is geared towards achieving meaningful and transformative outcomes. We'll work together to set and achieve goals that align with your personal growth and well-being. Our first therapy session primarily focuses on establishing trust, understanding your needs, and setting the groundwork for a productive therapeutic relationship focused on achieving your goals.
