My Approach to Helping
My counseling style is trauma-informed, individualized, and paced to ensure comfort and readiness for each client. I am deeply passionate about helping individuals overcome the distress of their past and ease their anxieties about the future. I believe our childhood experiences play a significant role in shaping who we are, and I strive to create a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their past and process their trauma. With unconditional positive regard, I gently reframe perspectives shaped by past experiences, fostering healing and growth. My treatment approach is eclectic and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I primarily use trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma reprocessing, complemented by psychodynamic therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and more.
More Info About My Practice
I believe that everyone has the innate capacity to heal when given the opportunity to process in a safe and supportive space. With a humanistic, strengths-based approach, I guide clients toward their goals in a direct yet compassionate way, allowing space for exploration, emotional processing, and the development of a trusted therapeutic relationship. My goal is to recognize all facets of a client’s experience, fostering meaningful perspective shifts and lasting healing. From a young age, I was a natural social butterfly, curious about others and their experiences. My own journey with mental health challenges led me to seek support, and through that process, I found healing and a profound appreciation for the power of support. As a therapist, I am honored to listen to my clients’ stories, empower their strengths, and serve as a trusted presence as they navigate life’s challenges and embrace their true selves.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I am trained in EMDR. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It?s a therapy that helps people heal from distressing or traumatic experiences that feel stuck or keep affecting them. When something overwhelming happens, your brain doesn?t always process it properly ? kind of like it gets frozen in time.
With EMDR, I?ll guide you to bring up pieces of the memory while using gentle back-and-forth stimulation, like eye movements or tapping. This helps your brain reprocess the memory so it?s no longer as intense or triggering. You?ll still remember what happened, but it won?t feel as emotionally charged. We go at your pace, and I?ll make sure you feel safe and supported the whole way through. The goal is to help you feel more at peace with things that used to feel overwhelming.
