My Approach to Helping
I am a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC #7345)*, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and a Certified Life Coach who specializes in helping adolescents and adults to heal from traumatic experiences, dysfunctional relationships, and wounds from the past. I am dedicated to helping people make and maintain positive changes in their lives.
I work with clients on a range of issues and concerns, such as but not limited to achieve greater self-esteem, build healthier relationships, and make the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral changes they seek.
I have experience with clients of all ages, backgrounds, and belief systems. The foundation of effective therapy is safe, trusting, and collaborative relationships. My treatment style is active and supportive and I bring a positive, direct, and proactive approach to therapy. My style is warm, client-centered, creative, and holistic. I will work with you to develop a plan that is tailored to your goals and needs.
My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can’t change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
Trauma-informed therapy is one of my core strengths. I bring a compassionate trauma-informed approach to working with people with a history of trauma, both large and small. Trauma can result from many causes, including abandonment, experiences of violence, witnessed or perceived violence, chronic neglect, and emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. In treating trauma, I emphasize safety and boundaries, and we work at your pace. I focus on building on your natural strengths and help you to identify desired goals and develop the skills and knowledge to achieve them.
I believe in the fundamental importance of the mind-body connection in healing from trauma. I will help you create tools to make a safe and stable environment within therapy and to use in your daily life. You will gain the resources and tools to establish clear boundaries, explore new ways to cope with everyday challenges and emotions, and increase your strengths and abilities. I draw from many modalities including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and mindfulness. I honor the uniqueness of my patients, and I tailor the treatment to meet your specific needs.
