My Approach to Helping
I believe we are much stronger than we think we are. Sometimes the problems we face try to convince us otherwise and have a way of concealing our strengths, leaving us feeling stuck.
I partner with my clients to seek out new ways to stay grounded in the midst of the stuff life throws at them. Whether through processing past troublesome or traumatic experiences or exploring current difficult situations, I collaborate with you to find new ways of coping, and see what options are available to make the necessary changes to have a different, richer, and more fulfilled experience in life.
My approach draws from a variety of psychological theories including Narrative Therapy, Attachment Focused Therapy and current research in psychology, neuroscience and mindfulness.
More Info About My Practice
In addition to seeing individuals, I am passionate about working with couples, helping facilitate new ways of communicating, moving past the blame, shame, or threats that that can often create a stalemate within the relationship. I help couples navigate the difficult conversations that seem to be on repeat and create a space for each person to feel comfortable talking about the feelings that don't always get discussed. I work with a variety of relationship styles and types and employ a 'zero judgement' approach--an important cornerstone to my practice.
I also work with children and young adults ages 10-17 who experience a wide range of issues, including body dysmorphia, depression, anxiety, problems at home and school, sexual identity, divorce, suicidal ideation, cutting, and death of a loved one.
