My Approach to Helping
I provide therapy for lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, polyamorous, and just plain open minded / alternative folks. I assist clients to move, explore and reach goals by drawing on an eclectic group of therapeutic tools and schools of thought such as Relational Multicultural Theory, Ego Analytical Therapy, Solution Focused, and Psychodynamic Theory. I believe therapy is a collaborative effort with each client and that, ideally, therapy can help be a source of new or renewed knowledge to help us explore, regain or restructure our sense of self and / or the dynamic between ourselves and others - and ultimately help us to lead a more centered and balanced life.
More Info About My Practice
I am pleased to be able to name Kerry Sheehan LPC as Deagan and Associates other Principle Practitioner. Kerry and I began to work together 3+ years ago at Waterloo Counseling Center after her internship with Safeplaces counseling program and I have had the good fortune to be able to continue to work with this gifted therapist. Our new associates are Rhonda Teagle LPCI and Kelly Robinson LPCI. We are pleased to welcome these colleagues that share with us an interest in strengths based services that are nonjudgmental, G,L,B,T,Q,P knowledgeable, and Relationally based. Our practice is also proud of our affiliation with Violet Crown Counseling Group. This virtual group practice enables us to serve a broader range of clients by connecting us to several other private practices that all share a commitment to serving the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Polyamorous community. Though not all our clients self identify as belonging to one of these groups but they all benefit from the discretion and nonjudgmental practices that all VCC members share.
