Do you sometimes struggle with difficult emotions like anger, sadness, jealousy or fear? Do you feel anxious or stressed for no apparent reason? Are you facing challenges in your significant relationship, or challenges finding a partner you can truly connect with? If so, I'd like to help.

I have been a practicing psychotherapist for 38 years, and have helped over a thousand individuals and couples with some of the challenges mentioned above.

The most important aspect of my work is my relationship with you. When you're feeling respected, honored and supported you're able to change almost any aspect of yourself and your life that you sincerely want to change.

Whether you're having relationship challenges, struggling with depression or anxiety, have a childhood issue that keeps resurfacing, or simply not feeling satisfaction and joy in your life, we can work together to help you have the quality of life that's important to you.

Couples come to seem for therapy because they're having challenges communicating with each other, when there has been a breach of trust in the relationship, when one partner wants to leave and the other doesn't, or when one partner feels there's just too much "water under the bridge." My belief is that a relationship can survive almost anything if both partners are committed to staying together, and my experience working with couples confirms this. Again, my relationship with both partners and my concern for your relationship is of primary importance to me.

I have been a Buddhist practioner for 25 years which significantly informs my work. At times I teach mindfulness meditation to help you become less stressed and more focused. Buddhism has taught me to develop a greater sense of compassion and acceptance which I bring to my relationship with you.

In my practice, I work in 2 ways; in person counseling in Ashland or Medford, and online counseling if you have an illness or disability that makes traveling difficult, have time constraints, or live in an area where there may not be trained, experienced therapists.

Whether I see you in person or on Skype, as part of a couple or as an individual, it is my honor to respectfully accompany you on a journey leading to a fuller, happier, more meaningful life.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love entering your world and learning about what makes you tick. I love the connection that develops, and the quality of "timelessness" about this connection and our work together. It may be trite to say that my work informs my life and gives my life meaning, but it's true. I feel enormous gratitude that I am able to do work that I love.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

I believe that the single most important factor in choosing a therapist is the connection between you and the therapist. Of course, you need to know that the therapist you're choosing is experienced, licensed and well trained. But these guidelines apply to many therapists, and those that you feel an honest personal connection with are few and far between. I encourage people to interview a number of therapists until they find one with whom they feel comfortable and really "click".

Groups I Work With

In my Ashland/Medford practice, I specialize in working with couples, primarily those with trust issues, women over 50, people in transition, and people interested in integrating their spiritual practice with psychotherapy.

In my online practice, I work with 2 different populations; expats living abroad, and people who, for a variety of reasons such as illness, time constraints, phobias or locale have difficulty getting to a trained, experienced psychotherapist. I use Skype video conferencing or Face Time to provide counseling, psychotherapy and marriage counseling to both of these populations.
