I am an in-network provider for:
See other therapists in Newtown, CT.
My unique and humanistic approach to helping people has been shaped not only by my education but also by my personal and professional experience. I desire to connect to people by providing them with a safe space to share their stories and begin to unravel what it is that is holding them back from reaching their true potential. I have experience working with substance abuse, PTSD, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, transitional life issues, trauma, crisis intervention, and much more. As a therapist and co-founder of Newtown Family Therapy, I am passionate about empowering people to gain insight into who they are and helping them understand the barriers they face in feeling at peace. When we are mentally unhealthy everything in our life suffers including our relationships, careers, confidence, and attitude. None of us are free from the suffering that being human ultimately brings, but we are also capable of finding joy even through our greatest challenges. Sometimes doing that requires professional support and guidance.

How Psychotherapy Can Help
Psychotherapy has gotten a bad rap over the years but I believe we are in the midst of an incredibly altering era for mental health. The conversation has shifted from one of "mental illness" to one of "mental health." The difference is in understanding what therapy is. It isn't about just diagnosing a person, labeling them, or figuring out what is wrong with them. It is about building on strengths that are already present, uncovering coping mechanisms to allow a person to heal and thrive even in times of struggle. It is about understanding who you are as an individual and what makes you unique. We are all our own worst critics but the secret is that we are also our own best agents of change and healing. Therapy can help uncover that and support you in learning how your feelings affect everything you do. Psychotherapy isn't a cure, it is more than that. Psychotherapy is the key to unlocking all of the things that end up buried by everyday stress, pressure, and sorrow. To put it simply, psychotherapy will allow you to not just survive, but to thrive.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
Making the decision to seek therapy is an incredibly humbling decision that takes immense courage. Choosing a therapist can then be even harder. I am here to help and to ensure your process to wellness is comfortable and clear. The work you will do in therapy won't be easy but the rewards are life long and second to none. Without mental health and wellness everything about us suffers. Who we are, how we feel mentally, physically, and spiritually, is all connected to our emotional intelligence. If your tooth cracked in half you wouldn't question needing a dentist. If you were having chest pains you wouldn't hesitate in seeking a qualified doctor. Why then, do we wait, question, and procrastinate when our thoughts and feelings are causing us inner turmoil and pain? It is the single most important part of staying healthy. I applaud you for taking the time to seek out help. I would be honored to guide you on your journey to living a more fulfilling life.
