My Approach to Helping
Stacy's specialties include ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, TRAUMA related symptoms, COUPLE'S therapy and SEX and LOVE ADDICTION. She has received training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT).

Client's therapeutic needs vary and so do treatment options. Therapy might be brief and solution oriented or deeper and more emotionally focused. Many people benefit in the development of coping skills to more effectively manage their lives. Toward this end, CBT and DBT skills may be optimal. On the other hand, people often recognize that their present issues stem from deeper unresolved "baggage" or pain from the past. If the client desires to work on underlying issues, Stacy works with clients to "connect and release" past trauma and shame issues (rather than stuffing the hurt or dwelling in the past).

Stacy provides a safe atmosphere that encompasses a supportive and "carefronting" approach with clients. She will collaborate with you to develop a customized treatment plan to help you achieve your hopes and goals.

More Info About My Practice
More information on specialties:

In working with couples therapy, Stacy uses a highly effective approach called Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). EFT in a short-term and structured approach to assist couples in reconnecting with one another. EFT is a proven effective treatment for couples and families. Developed by Drs. Sue Johnson and Les Greenberg in the early 1980s, EFT is based on the remarkable attachment research by John Bolby According to Bolby, humans have an innate need to feel bonded to and comforted by their partners. EFT works to help couples and families effectively deepen their attachment bonds.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): Based on Marsha Linehan's DBT model, the DBT skills you will learn incorporate mindfulness skills, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. Essentially, DBT teaches people concrete skills to help cope with stress/anxiety, depression, reactive behavior and addictions. I facilitate a DBT group on Tuesday evenings and also provide individual DBT therapy.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR): I am trained in EMDR, which is a highly researched therapy modality proven to be effective in the treatment of trauma related symptoms.
