My Approach to Helping
I practice psychology with the guiding principles of respect for individual differences and diversity, honesty and integrity, and a commitment to do what works for an individual. Sometimes doing what works means using a combination of techniques and strategies, rather than sticking to just one way of practicing psychology. For example, the fellowships of AA and NA, work great for many people, but for others, they find their recovery somewhere else. I have found that a willingness to be flexible, usually leads to progress.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I work with people to help them achieve freedom from addiction. Although the majority of my patients are struggling with issues related to addiction, and/or sexuality, I also see many people who have other types of concerns, as well as individuals who have received a diagnosis of personality disorder.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Finding the right therapist is an important part of the healing process. The large majority of practitioners are smart, and have a lot to offer their patients, but that doesn’t mean that you will necessarily find them to be a “good fit.” In fact, you may need to visit more than one psychologist to find the one that is right for you. Getting a sense of who a therapist is, and how they practice can be very helpful in making the right choice. However, the most important factor in healing is the strength of the relationship, and the best way to determine that is to follow your instincts. Speak to more than one person, if you can imagine yourself forming a strong working relationship with someone, there is a good chance that therapist will be able to help you.
