Committed couples. Relationship is often one of the most challenging areas of life. I often see extremely competent people struggle in this one area of their life. This has been true for certain times in my own life. I have made it a life long quest to understand why this is, and what can be done about it. I have found answers in neurobiology, attachment theory, and experiential psychotherapy. All of these disciplines offer a very pragmatic approach to understanding the biology of relationship, and how we are more mammalian than we like to think. If we can understand our evolution as a species, and the science of our brain, which includes our body, then we can understand our spouse or partner much better. We can also develop different strategies that actually support the relationship, rather than harm it.
People are amazing!!! Each of us is truly unique in our experience, yet there remains some very common elements as we are all the same species. I am deeply committed to my own growth and "walking the talk", which includes not taking myself too seriously and having a sense of humor.
