"and the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to bloom." - Anais Nin
If you feel "tight". Or in pain. Or if you struggle in your relationships. Now may be the time for psychotherapy, which is a process of self understanding, exploration and growth - an opportunity to "bloom". While it may be painful at times to look at unmet needs and wants, it can also be comforting to recognize these once unrecognized, disliked or even disowned needs and wants for yourself now. Learning to know yourself in this kind of intimate way can create the feelings of love and fulfillment that so many of us search for through alcohol, drugs, food, relationships and other addictions. Curiosity can help motivate your journey towards more self awareness and self acceptance. As you gain understanding and compassion for the addictions and defenses of the false self you once developed in order to survive, you may feel closer to your true nature. Together we can look at the underlying cause(s) of pain or difficulty in your life in order to help you "bloom". At this point, you may begin to expand into feelings of joy, passion, confidence and a fuller sense of self and connection to others.
More Info About My Practice
I received my MSW degree in 1980 from the University of Denver in Clinical Social Work. I am a certified Gestalt Therapist, a certified Imago Relationship Therapist, a certified Brainspotting therapist, and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. I have also trained in EMDR, Brainspotting and Control Mastery. While I am eclectic in the sense that I try to encompass all that I have learned in my work with people, I also approach each person anew, with presence and mindfulness. Each person brings their own creative way of being to the therapy process, just as they did in childhood. I always look forward to how the process will unfold.
