My Approach to Helping
Are there things about yourself you've always wanted to change, but weren't sure how? There is a way through the challenges you may be experiencing. Self-empathy and self-acceptance is an important place to start. Begin by knowing that everything you have experienced up until this point has impacted you. This includes both positive and negative events. Sometimes experiences live on in the conscious mind, and sometimes they can dwell in the subconscious mind, where they may still affect us even though we may not actively remember or think about them often. In addition, there are present day situations which put another layer on top of what we have already experienced, and trigger memories from personal histories. Deep seated feelings of sadness, anger, fear, and resentment can cause physical reactions in our bodies. Psychotherapy can assist you wherever you are in your healing process. The goal of our work together is to help you move through and release previous emotional injuries and traumas, to connect with the joy of your highest self, and to learn to listen to your own intuition to make new positive life choices.

More Info About My Practice
It is important to explore the combination of influences including family history, biochemistry and current life stressors which may be causing distress. I approach therapy as a collaborative healing process, and incorporate spirituality and life coaching methods as appropriate.

My work is excellent for people in life transitions, and couples experiencing conflict. If you are paying privately your first session is free, to allow us to see if working together will meet your needs. I offer a sliding scale fee for clients on a limited income, and I tailor my methods to meet clients' goals.

My therapeutic work integrates a variety of methods, including psychodynamic, somatic and cognitive-behavioral psychologies. I earned my Master's degree in 1998, and became licensed as a psychotherapist in 2006.

My Guiding Ethical Principles

I am particularly skilled at helping individuals and couples work through the aspects of self which may be creating internal and external conflicts, and explore the root causes of conflicts. In this way we can help clarify personal truths and increase harmony and well being. I believe all people have the capacity to heal and grow, as this is natural to all living things. Often who we truly are can become clouded by negative experiences; yet under the surface we are well. It can be challenging to try to figure it all out alone, and a professional therapist can be an excellent guide through the process of emotional recovery.
