My Approach to Helping
I am passionate about helping LGBTQ+ individuals and those who love them to flourish. Given the religious context of Utah, much of my work with LGBTQ+ clients involves navigating their gendersexuality in the context of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For some of my clients, this involves finding ways to navigate religious trauma and family members who do not understand their gendersexuality. For other clients, this involves finding ways to understand their gendersexuality in conjunction with their religious beliefs.
In addition to working with LGBTQ+ clients, I often work with parents, family, and friends of LGBTQ+ people to build positive and health relationships. I regularly work with transgendernon-binary teens and their parents to build understanding and mental health. I also work with church leaders and family members alone to better understand LGBTQ+ individuals' experiences.
If you or someone you love is feeling stuck, please reach out today to schedule a free 15-minute initial consultation.
In addition to therapy, I teach at Utah State University and research ways to help LGBTQ+ Latter-day Saints flourish. I regularly present my research at academic conferences, in peer-reviewed journals, and at local conferences such as North Star and Affirmation.
