My Approach to Helping
The stress of being a woman in today’s society is significantly overlooked. We’re expected to excel in school, have successful full-time careers, raise a family, keep the house clean and the pantry stocked, prepare daily homecooked meals, keep up with society’s ever-changing standard of “beauty,” exercise and eat healthy, maintain a close group of friends, have strong and intimate relationships with our partners, and prove it all on social media. We do all this while battling intrusive thoughts of perfectionism, low-self worth, poor body image, and never-ending guilt. We’re told to hold in and hide our anger, frustration and sadness and keep a smile on our face. Even when we feel like we’re drowning and there’s nothing left of us to give, we continue to put everyone else first. The pressure and expectations of us are endless, and let’s not forget the perpetual sexual, emotional, and physical violence we experience that is often ignored. My goal is to provide women with a safe and confidential space to talk about hard things, reduce stress, heal from trauma, and discover inner strength. My hope is to make you feel heard, accepted and understood. As your therapist, I promise to always meet you where you’re at and take it at your pace. My style is laid-back, interactive, and collaborative. I’m trained in a variety of approaches and interventions, but view each individual as unique in their needs, preferences, and goals.
