My Approach to Helping
Working through difficult issues, making sense of life events, and freeing up emotional energy are important goals of psychotherapy. As a psychologist, I am highly-trained and skilled at assisting people from a variety of cultures, and bring years of experience, knowledge, personal commitment, and caring to the process. I also value sound research and developmental psychologies in helping people with self-esteem, self-worth, identity, relationship struggles, transitions, grief, and career needs.
Two themes that emerge quite often in my work with clients include loss and longing and striving for perfection at the expense of meaningful connections with oneself and others. On a deeper level, emotional memories stored in the body often emerge at times of high stress, trauma, and uncertainty, and can steal energy, cause anxiety and depression, and create other symptoms of distress.
I help clients learn new skills, add new perspectives, increase self-awareness, identify and build on personal strengths, and grow into the persons they want to become. It is both a privilege and sacred trust that I am humbled to be a part of.
