My Approach to Helping
I believe that psychotherapy is a collaborative effort and that change is possible. We work to discover various aspects of ourselves, looking into issues from new perspectives, increase self-awareness, and the potential to promote a better quality of life. I am professional, respectful and warm to every person I treat. We create treatment goals that settled in your needs and best results. As an Asian American psychotherapist, I naturally connect with immigration and acculturation issues that clients encounter. And as a parent, I understand the challenge of modern parenting and can provide professional advice.
My theoretical orientation is an integration of psychodynamic, interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, multi-systemic, and solution-focused interventions. I also collaborate with evidenced-based treatment modalities including ACT (acceptance commitment therapy), mindfulness-based practice like MBSR, and is currently in training of EMDR. Trained and practice mindfulness myself, I combine it into my therapy practice. I help clients to see the value of focusing on the present moment, furthermore, the compassion of self is the valuable strength in the process of healing.
I am an experienced, 15+ year LCSW and hold MSW in Advanced Clinical Practice from Columbia University School of Social Work. I am trained in shortlong term psychotherapy, mindfulness, individualcouple, groupfamily work, diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses, and crisis intervention.
Do you feel you are stuck in life? Do you want to improve your mood and relationships ? Are school and career choices overwhelming? How about the balance between yourself and family? I can empathize and like to provide help. I invite you to reach out and see if we can be a good fit to meet further in therapy. Together, this can be the beginning of healing and rebuild, and soon, the possibility of change gradually arrives.
