My Approach to Helping
I am a licensed professional counselor in private practice with 16 years experience working with Complex-PTSD (developmental), attachment injuries/disruptions and dissociative disorders stemming from child abuse and neglect.
My professional mission has been to help traumatized adults recover from adverse childhood experiences and transforming how their mind, body, brain and heart still remember and hold onto it. I have come to recognize my clients as gifted teachers who share their inner world with me and together we explore the biography and the current biology and psychology of who they are. I am honored to help people heal and restore their lives.
My background includes both formal psychotherapeutic training, body psychotherapy training and specialized trauma-focused training, along with in-depth study and practice of Eastern mindfulness (meditation and yoga).
I utilize a gentle, integrative, strengths-based, client-centered approach that draws on psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal/relational, experiential, family systems, somatic, transpersonal and specialized trauma-focused frameworks. My philosophy recognizes both the physiological and psychological impacts of chlldhood trauma and the importance of paying attention to both, with treatment that bridges mind and body.
