My Approach to Helping

I provide individual therapy sessions for adults, children, & adolescents, family sessions, and work with parents on building attunement, parenting skills, and on school-based issues.
ADULTS:
I have a special interest in working with adults on: complex & acute trauma, anxiety, emotion regulation, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, grief, life transitions, & disability-related topics.
I hold a trauma-informed, somatically-oriented lens and believe that healing is found through exploring your mental, physical, emotional, and social strengths and needs, examining the impact of past events, exploring your somatic experience, and by tuning into your own wisdom. I tend to draw from DBT, somatic, Narrative, mindfulness, and psychodynamic therapy modes, as well as trauma-informed neuropsychological research. I encourage you to be an active participant in identifying goals and letting me know how best to help you.
YOUTH AND FAMILIES:
I have extensive experience working with families and in schools and welcome children of all ages, parents, teens, families, and educators. In addition the therapy modes listed above, with children (and adults too!) I utilize play, art, sand tray, and music therapy, and social-emotional learning tools. I provide individual parent and family sessions focused on building more positive parent-child interactions, and on increasing desired behaviors & decreasing undesired ones. I enjoy supporting parents, teachers, and children around building a positive school experience. Some issues I focus on include (but are not limited to): anger, traumatic events, general anxiety, social anxiety, separation anxiety, making friends, dealing with bullying, frequent arguing in the home, withdrawnness, self-esteem, fear, sexual abuse, and more.
~~~~~
Most importantly, I'm here to build a supportive and productive therapeutic relationship with you. You can contact me at the email or phone number listed for a free 15 minute consultation to discuss what brings you to therapy, and to determine if I may be a good fit for your needs.
More Info About My Practice
I am currently seeing clients online and at my office in Berkeley, close to UC Berkeley.
I am committed to social justice and invite discussion around power & privilege within & outside of the therapy room.
I am allied to the LGBTQIA2S+, BIPOC, polyamorous, Deaf, DeafBlind, neurodivergent, & disability communities.
I am trauma-informed and somatically-oriented, which means that I'm interested in understanding the nature of trauma and how it affects our mind and body, and how this then impacts us as individuals, lovers, partners, family members, friends, students, employees, and how this impacts our society as a whole. I find this endlessly fascinating. By developing a deeper understanding of ourselves, our strengths and needs, and the somatic, neurological, and behavioral impact of traumas we may have experienced, we can heal and connect with ourselves and others more deeply, authentically, and healthily.
I also believe strongly in how the stories we tell, and the engrained ways we view our stories, shape our lives. By changing the stories we tell and the ways we view them, we can find a new way of relating that can bring more peace, revelations, power, and acceptance.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I truly do look forward to my sessions with clients and feel honored to get to know and a be a part of your story.
While therapy can be about achieving outcomes, it can also be about simply being witnessed, accepted, and understood. From being witnessed with care, often much healing and change can come on its own. I appreciate having the chance to help others move towards their goals, be that to find healing from prior experiences, gain self-esteem and confidence, build tools to more effectively manage things like stress, interpersonal relationships, and emotion regulation, or to simply be deeply heard seen in therapy room.
