My Approach to Helping
I will make sure you feel safe and comfortable in the therapeutic relationship, and that you quickly see the results of our work together. I am passionate about my role as a therapist and take seriously the privilege of hearing your story and working with you toward a healthier and happier you. I believe strongly in the resiliency of the human spirit and the ability of individuals and couples to heal from even the greatest of traumas with the right kind of help. My Christian faith strongly influences my counseling, and my view of each client as having been uniquely created by God, with a special purpose for his/her life.
More Info About My Practice
Clients are assessed and set up with a treatment plan that will encourage the greatest chance for their success in treatment. Because it is important to me that clients achieve their goals and get relief from their distress, I only accept clients when I feel that I have the right clinical skills to really positively impact their situation. Opportunities for homework compliment what is achieved in the session and allows clients to "work" toward their goals between session times. Most often, clients will be seen on a weekly basis at the beginning of treatment.
Insurance and cash pay patients are accepted. I am a provider for many major insurance carriers, including BCBS, Century and First Health Network. For specific insurance coverage, clients should check their individual policy. If a client has insurance for which I am not a network provider, the client will be responsible for payment of the session fee at the time of service. My office will then submit insurance electronically, and clients may be reimbursed for a portion of the fees by their insurance company.
Cash, check, or credit cards are accepted for cash pay clients.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
The opportunity to be able to come along another person in their time of need is a privilege. I greatly value my clients and get a great deal of pleasure from seeing them not only heal from their hurts, but to grow into living their lives to the fullest.
As a therapist, I make it my goal to pursue constant growth as a clinician to provide my clients with the best opportunity for healing and enrichment. I attend advanced trainings on a regular basis and have never tired in my desire to learn more that will assist the people who entrust their care to me. I am fascinated by the human mind, the resilience of people and the unique creation of each individual.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
It is extremely important that you can connect personally with your therapist and feel safe in allowing her to join with you in the healing process. The value of this connection cannot be overstated. You may feel vulnerable coming to therapy, and will make progress much quicker when a genuine connection can be established in the working relationship.
In addition, it is ideal that your therapist have the specific tools to help you get relief. Seeking a therapist who has advanced training and specializes in the areas you're seeking help with is important. For example, the best orthopedic doctor in the world would be of no assistance with managing your diabetes. Similarly, a therapist who is well suited for you will be one who has a specific passion and training for helping with the challenges you're facing.
