My Approach to Helping
I am an experienced licensed professional counselor with an empathic ear and true compassion for all I serve. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for growth and self-discovery. I believe that the counseling experience is a personal, yet shared interaction between two or more individuals with TRUST being the most critical aspect of the experience. To help build trust, I want to share with you my professional beliefs and experience.
I believe counseling is a joint effort that cannot be successful without your honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness to do the work. Therapy with me will be a safe place to explore your feelings, thoughts, reactions to situations and people, and achieve emotional stability. Counseling, I believe, is an opportunity for you to learn new ways to manage your feelings, relationships, and mental well-being.
My areas of expertise include individual therapy with men and women, couples counseling, grief counseling, counseling to manage mood and anxiety disorders, family stress management, work-related stress management, anger management, addiction issues, as well as counseling to resolve other interpersonal problems. I use primarily Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you gain emotional stability.
I believe group therapy can be empowering and can maximize your growth process; therefore, when appropriate, I will recommend support group attendance as part of your treatment. In the case of issues or concerns beyond my scope of competence, I will make every effort to refer you to a more specialized professional.
I will always operate with your best interests in mind. It is my goal to protect your rights by keeping our relationship professional at all times. This means that even though our relationship may seem very intimate, you must remember that I am only sharing with you as a professional and focusing on the goals you have indicated your desire to reach. Remember, this is the primary purpose of our relationship, emotionalmental wellness!
