My Approach to Helping
When I am working with clients they can expect to be both cared for and challenged, as I feel that is the ideal balance in making progress. I would describe my style as warm, friendly, and compassionate combined with clinical skills and professionalism. I like to create a conversational space where my clients can feel comfortable to share their thoughts and feelings and I can hopefully augment those with my perspective and validation. I try to create an ideal environment for personal growth for the clients I feel privileged to assist.
My areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, ACT, Mindfulness, relationship conflict, men's issues, compassion fatigue/burnout, life transitions, grief/loss, gay/lesbian, self-esteem/self-compassion, and resilience. I have 13 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and older adults in various settings, and I work mostly with individuals. I am currently only seeing clients through telehealth.
Clients have said they feel cared for and feel comfortable talking in session with me. I connect well with most age groups, especially 12 and older. I see the value in therapy but I also appreciate the challenge in making a change and opening up to others. I am from a large family, I am an avid soccer supporter (Go Everton and Sounders) and father of two.
