My Approach to Helping
Are you a gay man or queer couple looking for affordable and culturally-sensitive therapy?
I have lived in the US for 15 years and experienced immigration myself multiple times, which makes me uniquely positioned to hold space for clients who made a similar journey. I grew up in Kyiv, Ukraine but as a young adult, I studied and worked in Canada, France, the UK, and Hong Kong. I speak Russian, Ukrainian, and French and can accommodate gay clients from Eastern Europe.
These are some issues you might be experiencing:
- When you first moved to California, it was probably very exciting. Later you started experiencing loneliness and difficulty relating to other people.
- As a child, you probably didn’t feel safe to fully inhabit your queer identity. Now that you find yourself in a seemingly more accepting place, you find that your earlier experience still impacts how you live your life.
- Growing up abroad is part of your unique heritage, but you might be struggling to understand American cultural codes or navigate gay culture.
- Does the media portrayal of what a gay person should look like make you feel upset and inadequate?
As an associate MFT, I am able to offer lower rates than the industry standard. In my therapy sessions, I create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment. I can help you to identify your strengths and resources and to develop coping mechanisms for dealing with challenges. I also provide support as clients navigate the unique challenges of LGBTQ+ life, such as coming out, building relationships, and coping with discrimination.
