My Approach to Helping
The most important thing about therapy is seeing a counselor that you feel understands you and is a good fit. I understand that everyone is different and has individuals needs. I cater therapy to the individual's need and will work to help you improve your current state of mind and work on issues that are troubling you.
As a licensed mental health counselor and a licensed marriage and family therapist, I have the training to work with both individuals and couples. I am also well versed in working with people with an array of different issues. I have had trainings in different modalities of couple therapy, play therapy, sex therapy and family therapy. Additionally, I have also been trained in areas such as addictions, developmentally related issues, trauma work, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, solution focused therapy.
I work with each client on an individual level to help them understand themselves, their reactions and work with them to feel better in the long run. Children are on a different developmental level as adults and have a hard time expressing themselves, with young clients I do play therapy to treat children and work in conjunction with the parents to help them facilitate change.
More Info About My Practice
Mind Wellness Center is a private practice that is lead by myself, Monika Kreinberg. Here I will provide you with individualized therapy that caters to your needs and goals. I believe in an integrated model of well-being and if there are other modalities of stress relievers/non-therapeutic interventions that I think would benefit you, I will definitely discuss that with you. My end goal is my client's satisfaction with therapy and their ability to understand themselves better and leave with tools that they can use the rest of their lives.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Choosing a therapist is a difficult choice to make, as there are many options to choose from. I would suggest looking at their background to see if they have had a lot of training in the field, checking out their website, and most important calling them for an initial phone consult and subsequently scheduling a session. The first session is important and you must feel that the therapist is listening to you and understands you. They should be open to answer questions you have and be upfront about fees, schedule etc. I have worked with many different clients that come to therapy and have training in many different areas such as treatment for issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, developmental concerns, couple therapy, sex therapy, trauma, gender sexual identity concerns, transgender care, self-esteem, post-partum depression, phase of life/hormonal changes, developmental concerns, to name a few. I also speak five different languages, which has helped my clients feel comfortable using their own mother tongue to express themselves.
