My Approach to Helping
Dr. Kia A. Watkins is a Psychologist in Arizona who has been practicing since 2021. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Adler University in Chicago, IL. Dr. Watkins has extensive clinical training working within a variety of settings including residential substance abuse programs, inpatient psychiatric facilities, outpatient clinics, college wellness centers, and elementary schools. She has worked with individuals across the lifespan providing individual, couples, and group therapy services. She is trained in conducting psychological assessments for adult learners.
Her clinical expertise includes issues related to diversity and multiculturalism, complex trauma, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, grief and loss, gender and sexuality, spirituality, substance dependence, and stress management.
Dr. Watkins' approach emphasizes establishing a meaningful connection with each of her clients through profound empathy, acceptance, curiosity, and encouragement. When she is not working, Dr. Watkins enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching and playing basketball, playing chess, crocheting, and writing poetry.
