My Approach to Helping
* Teletherapy sessions serving the entire state of Michigan. *
Life is too short to suffer silently. Imagine breaking free from the chains of the anxiety, depression, stress, & emotional pain you are carrying with you! Everyone\'s story matters. Let\'s explore your story so you can have the growth and healing you deserve.
I know that seeking out therapy can feel overwhelming and uncomfortable, so I’m glad you’re here! I believe counseling is a collaborative process based on honesty, respect, and empowerment in which we work together toward the change you desire. I believe in authenticity, flexibility, and meeting you where you are. So, please come as you are – there are no expectations here!
I believe that you drive the bus in this therapeutic journey. I recognize that you are the expert of your own experience. My role as a guide is to help you gain long-term, life-changing tools so you can shape your life into the one you desire.
I earned both a Master of Science and a Specialist degree in Counseling & Human Systems: Mental Health Counseling from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. Currently, I am a limited licensed professional counselor. In addition, I hold board certification with the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) which was obtained in 2002 and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist – Individual (CCTSI). I am also a Certified PREPARE ENRICH Facilitator and a Certified Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) clinician.
I have a variety of experiences in the counseling, including individual, couples and family counseling, crisis counseling, and group therapy. Specific areas of clinical experience include depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, trauma, substance-abuse disorders and addiction, issues related to dysfunctional family systems, anger issues, domestic violence and abuse.
I have an eclectic approach to counseling with a strong reliance on cognitive behavioral therapy which focuses on how your beliefs and inner self-talk interact with your feelings and behaviors. In addition, I also employ other therapeutic approaches including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), emotionally focused therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, schema therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and written exposure therapy for trauma.
I am a military-informed clinician and trained in military specific culture and treatments that focus on the needs of the military population and military-connected families.
Counseling services will be provided to Michigan residents via telehealth using a HIPAA-compliant and secure video conferencing software for therapists.
