My Approach to Helping

Do you want more from your life and relationships? I CAN HELP. Lets explore together your needs and wants and what gets in the way of fulfilling them. Psychotherapy is a process of self understanding, exploration and growth. While it may be painful at times to look at unmet needs and wants, it can also be comforting to recognize these once unrecognized, disliked or even disowned needs and wants for yourself now - to see both your "shadow" side and your potential. Learning to know yourself in this kind of intimate way can create the feelings of love and fulfillment that so many of us search for through alcohol, drugs, food, relationships and other addictions. In a safe, non-judgmental way, I can encourage curiosity about your unconscious beliefs and self defeating behaviors, leading to more self awareness, understanding and self acceptance. As you gain understanding and compassion for the defenses (and possible addictions) of the false self you once developed in order to survive, you may feel closer to your true nature. Together we can look at the underlying cause of pain or difficulty in your life in order to help you expand into feelings of joy, passion, confidence and a fuller sense of self and connection to others. I believe in your ability to become more authentic and alive and I look forward to being with you on this journey toward wholeness, encouraging and embracing your essential self.

More Info About My Practice

I received my MSW degree in 1980 from the University of Denver in Clinical Social Work. I am a Certified Gestalt Therapist, a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, a Certified Brainspotting therapist, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and a Certified EMDR Therapist. I have also trained in Control Mastery and the Enneagram. While I am eclectic in the sense that I try to encompass all that I have learned in my work with people, I also approach each person anew, with presence and mindfulness. Each person brings their own creative way of being to the therapy process, just as they did in childhood. I always look forward to how the process will unfold.
