My Approach to Helping
I rely on building the therapeutic relationship because I believe this is the most important part of the therapy process. It is through the client-counselor interaction that change and growth occurs. My personality, which plays out in sessions, is genuine, nonjudgmental, and I display unconditional positive regard for my client's. Primarily, my approach to helping individuals who are seeking professional counseling services is from a cognitive-behavioral perspective. In using this approach I collaborate with individuals to identify the root of the issue which typically comes from negative thinking styles andor core beliefs that also affect a person's feelings, behaviors, and can manifest itself in physiological symptoms. However, I rely on techniques from other theoretical frameworks such as solution-focused brief therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy among others in the therapy process.
