My Approach to Helping

Having been a therapist in private practice for more than 32 years, I am eager and excited to work with individuals and couples who are sincerely searching for healing and for direction in their lives, both individually and relationally. People who seek counseling usually are experiencing a high level of frustration, pain and "stuckness." The average length of time for people to live with these difficulties before seeking therapy is six years. I believe that, by working together, we can identify the distinct nature of the clients' wounds and fears. We can also pinpoint specific steps to promote healing and healthy living and change the self-defeating patterns of the past.

In addition to my private therapy practice, I taught psychology and counseling courses at the University of Texas at Dallas for 15 years and currently am Adjunct Professor in the Counseling department at Southern Methodist University.
