My Approach to Helping

Do you have a teenager you're worried about? Are you in a relationship that used to be great and now you're wondering what happened? Are you dealing with anxiety, depression, or another problem that seems overwhelming? I can help.

It's not easy to be in a position to be looking at these counseling profiles, trying to get help for a problem that seems beyond your control. You may have already tried everything you can think of by this time and decided it's time to get professional help so you can get back to a peaceful, happy space without all the worry and drama. Congratulations on having the courage and determination to try something else.

The bright side is that with solution focused therapy, you'll learn that even though things are tough right now, you're still doing more things right than you are wrong. You may be so preoccupied about what is going wrong right now, that you've lost sight of what you're doing right. I'll help you become more clear about what changes you want to make in your life, realize what things you're doing right that you shouldn't change, and help you start improving your situation by starting small, focusing on your preferred future rather than mistakes from your past, and help you find solutions that fit your way of doing things. Doing what works for you makes it easier for you to make desired changes.

You'll leave solution focused counseling sessions feeling invigorated instead of drained and hopeful instead of hopeless.

More Info About My Practice

I accept Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Priority Health, Meridian Health, and Blue Care Network insurances. Average rates are $80-$120 per session, with a sliding fee scale.

My Therapy Focus

I enjoy working with a wide variety of concerns including helping people deal with anxiety and depression, improve relationships, make life changing decisions, heal from past trauma, or deal with a current crisis.

I enjoy working with teenagers, adults, couples, and families. I work from a solution focused model which just means counseling focuses on helping you figure out specifically what changes you want to make in your life or situation, helping you figure out what you're already doing right so you can do more of what works, and helping you figure out what small, do-able changes you can start with to get you closer to your ideal future.

I especially enjoy working with teenagers and teenage concerns, as well as parent concerns about teenagers. Due to my previous experience as a school social worker, I have a lot of experience working with teenagers who really don't want to go to counseling.

Making that first phone call to set up your counseling appointment is usually the hardest part. Once you do that the rest is pretty easy. If you think solution focused counseling is right for you, please give me a call or send an email.
