My Approach to Helping
If you've been feeling anxious, depressed, empty, overwhelmed, or unsure of what to do, therapy may be a very good option to help you work through these issues to live the life that you want. Together, we collaboratively set individualized goals and focus on the most effective and up-to-date treatments for the problems you're experiencing. I provide an open, safe, non-judgmental environment in which we work together to improve your life. Through the use of strongly research-backed Cognitive Behavior Therapies, my sincere hope is for us to be so successful that you will not need to use my services again!
I am a clinic director and professor who has published research on PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and Eating Disorders. While I specialize in treatment of these disorders, I view all therapy as focusing on people rather than their diagnosis. At this time, I am able to only work with adults (ages 18+).
I know how hard it can be to believe that things can change, to reach out, and to ask for help. There is hope that you can live the life you want without the pain and suffering you may be experiencing. We can work together to make that happen.
More Info About My Practice
I am currently only seeing clients via teletherapy, and can work with anyone in the state of Oklahoma. Further, I am also a member of PsyPact, and can legally work with clients located in the majority of states in the US.
Working together follows these steps:
1) A free 15-20 minute consultation call/Zoom. This will give you an opportunity to ask questions, and for me to understand what your presenting difficulties are. It will help to make sure I'm a good fit as your therapy provider.
2) An Intake Session. This is a full 50-minute therapy session, wherein we begin to explore your difficulties in detail.
3) Assessment Phase. The Assessment Phase of therapy begins with the Intake Session, and ends in 1-2 additional sessions. This phase is intended to give me a full understanding your presenting difficulties and your personal history. All of this information is put together into a conceptualization (which includes mental disorder diagnoses) and treatment plan, which we will work on collaboratively. Your personal goals for treatment will be tied to our treatment plan.
4) Treatment Phase. The Treatment Phase of therapy is heavily based on our understanding of your difficulties. Because we know what you've experienced and how these issues are impairing and distressing, the Treatment Phase is where we begin the work of changing your experiences. We will engage in evidence-based therapy to reduce your symptoms, increase your quality of life, and achieve your personal goals.
