My Approach to Helping
Crystal Cowen is a licensed therapist (LT) with 3 years of experience with adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families. She is passionate about supporting couples, individuals, and families by improving communication, relationships, and a healthier sense of self. Crystal is well-versed in addressing traumas, life changes, body and sex issues, depression, anxiety, cultural assimilation struggles, and more. Crystal received her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. She is able to meet individuals, couples, and families where they are, whether this is their first encounter with therapy or if they have previous experience. Crystal's ability to be empathetic and nonbias provides a comfortable and safe space to explore the self and relationships. Crystal utilizes multiple treatment approaches including solution-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (SF-CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness, control mastery, person-centered therapy (PCT), and more. As we grow and develop as individuals or within our relationships, we are bound to meet challenges. Crystal believes that these challenges are growth opportunities to be taken advantage of instead of shied away from. Within the therapeutic environment, Crystal will help you explore your goals, desires, and strengths to overcome life's barriers. Understanding yourself through interpersonal reflection can help you not only navigate yourself but also your experiences in the world and your interpersonal relations with confidence.
