My Approach to Helping

When you are struggling with life's challenges, it can affect your ability to sleep, think, and function well. Low mood, brain fog, and worry are signs of big stress and can really get in the way of your health, work and family life. If you find that you have difficulty saying no, feel anxious about everything, and just generally feel bad about yourself most of the time, you are probably feeling sick and tired of dealing with these feelings and ready for a change. When the same old problems keep showing up in your life no matter how hard you try to change them, it might be time to turn your attention on yourself and your needs.

My practice focuses on a variety mental health issues such as, disordered eating and body image, addictions, trauma, ADHD, Acquired Brain Injury, burnout, insomnia, anxiety and depression. We are registered psychotherapists dedicated to providing you with individualized treatment in a safe, supportive space. At Laird Counselling Services, you are in the driver's seat and we work on whatever you want to talk about. Using evidence-based approaches, care, and compassion, we provide therapeutic interventions, practical skills and tools to help you improve the problem areas in your life.

My practice offers online evening sessions to fit in with your busy schedule. Get in touch for a no-fee phone consultation. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Body image and food worries are a growing concern for people of all genders and ages. This is an area of particular interest in my practice. I understand the stress and turmoil that body negativity brings to your life. It can lead you to be self-critical, isolate, and restrict food, all in an attempt to change your shape and weight to feel better about yourself. Do you feel dissatisfied with your appearance when you look in the mirror? Have you ever turned down invitations from friends and family because you were ashamed of your body? Have you ever tried to control your food intake all day, only to binge at night? These thoughts and feelings could be signs of disordered eating and body dysmorphia. Besides wreaking havoc with your mood and self-esteem, they can impact your health and relationships. But it is possible to change the way you feel about yourself and your body. You can make peace with food and restore your relationship with food. Bring balance back to your life. Reach out for a no-fee consultation to find out how we can help you meet your goals.
