My Approach to Helping
I have a holistic approach to talk therapy that includes breathing exercises, body awareness, EMDR, and acupressure. As a licensed professional counselor as well as a licensed massage therapist, I believe that being grounded in the body and the breath is an important way to cope with overwhelming emotions, to unwind trauma, and to break up patterns that no longer serve us. My goal is to help clients heal by becoming more embodied in their experiences. I use Hakomi Body-Centered Psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My extensive training in Eastern healing modalities, such as yoga, Shiatsu, and Thai bodywork also greatly influence my approach.
