My Approach to Helping

I have a holistic approach to talk therapy that includes mindfulness practices, body awareness, and craniosacral therapy. As a licensed professional counselor as well as a licensed massage therapist, I believe that being grounded in the body and the breath is an important way to cope with overwhelming emotions, to unwind trauma, and to transform patterns that no longer serve us. My goal is to help clients heal by becoming more embodied in their experiences. I use Somatic Experiencing (Body-Centered Psychotherapy), Craniosacral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My extensive training in yoga and meditation also provides a foundation of wisdom for this work.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have specialized training in trauma and addictions and have had several years of experience working with teens and adults struggling with these issues.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

For me, the purpose of psychotherapy is to help guide people toward their own truth and natural wisdom. The therapeutic relationship provides a container of safety to allow people to peel back the layers of confusion covering their truth. My approach gets people out of the chaotic stories of their mind and into the wisdom of their bodies.
