My Approach to Helping
I have a holistic approach to talk therapy that includes mindfulness practices, body awareness, and craniosacral therapy. As a licensed professional counselor as well as a licensed massage therapist, I believe that being grounded in the body and the breath is an important way to cope with overwhelming emotions, to unwind trauma, and to transform patterns that no longer serve us. My goal is to help clients heal by becoming more embodied in their experiences. I use Somatic Experiencing (Body-Centered Psychotherapy), Craniosacral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My extensive training in yoga and meditation also provides a foundation of wisdom for this work.
