My Approach to Helping
The loss of someone close is always unwanted and can be devastating, affecting bereaved people in many ways -- emotionally, physically, socially, spiritually, and more. For over 30 years, I have been helping bereaved people who are struggling with the loss of a loved one, as well as with other traumatic or challenging life transitions. While grieving is a natural and painful process, research has shown that there are circumstances that can exacerbate the pain and interfere with healing. As the lead trainer and supervisor at the Center for ProlongedComplicated Grief at Columbia University, I have trained clinicians nationally and internationally in evidence-based treatment for complicated grief. This model informs my work with bereaved clients, especially when grief is complicated.
I also specialize in helping adults with various personal and relationship struggles -- anxiety, depression, decision making, life transitions, self-esteem difficulties, and communication challenges.
