My Approach to Helping

My name is Dr. Blair Prescott and I provide online psychotherapy to adults struggling with anxiety and depression, self-critical thoughts, relationship issues, burnout and somatic stress. I work with smart, kind, capable people, who, despite their successes, are overwhelmed with anxiety and self-critical thoughts. You want relief from the overwhelm, burnout, and people pleasing. When we feel disconnected from ourselves, our bodies, and our communities, it's as if things are happening to us in our lives. Together, we will explore what's keeping you stuck and learn skills to relieve anxious and overly critical patterns, so you can get back in touch with who you are without all the noise. Even amongst the chaos, it's possible to ease your mind and access inner peace. It's not your fault you feel this way and, with a little help, it's in your power to change and move forward. You deserve relief and to gain back peace, agency, presence, and purpose.

I approach therapy from an eclectic orientation that incorporates different evidence based practices, depending on your unique needs and goals. We’ll talk through different options and collaborate on concrete steps you can take in between our sessions, so that the change is happening in your life and not just in the therapy space. Whatever your background and experience, I enjoy meeting with folks who are questioning the default dynamics in their life and exploring their agency in carving out new paths forward, whether that’s setting boundaries in your relationships or exploring your sexuality.

More Info About My Practice

Coming to therapy, facing negative past experiences and rocking the boat in your life can be both destabilizing and liberating. Clients I’ve worked with report that addressing the disorientation caused by stress & trauma empowers them to re-align with their values and goals and access more inner peace. Whichever modality we choose, the most important thing is that you feel free from judgment to explore difficult topics and supported to try out new approaches. If you’d like to learn more about working with me, please reach out. I’d love to hear from you and be a part of your journey.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I also specialize in working with individuals recovering from sexual trauma and know firsthand the influence stress and trauma can have on one's life, impacting trust, self-esteem, relationships, feelings of safety, and sense of calm. I've served as a rape crisis counselor as well as the military sexual trauma care coordinator for the Veterans Affairs medical center and worked with individuals of all backgrounds who've experienced sexual trauma. We can build skills to settle your body and mind so that you can challenge self-critical thought patterns and find deeper connection and alignment.
