Marlton is a census-designated place and an unincorporated area in Evesham Township. It is located in Burlington County, New Jersey. It has a land area of 3 square miles. Marlton was founded in 1676 by Welsh and English farmers. The community is named after the marl clay that is found in the local soil.

Marlton has a population of 10,000 people. Among adults age 25 and over, 93% have a high school degree, and 36% have a bachelor’s degree. Marlton is home to 700 military veterans.

The racial composition of Marlton is 86% white, 6% Hispanic, 5% Asian, and 3% black. Around 8% of residents were born in a foreign country. Eleven percent of residents have a native language other than English.

Drug abuse is a growing concern in Burlington County. In 2017, police officers and emergency responders used Narcan to treat over 900 cases of drug overdose in the county.  From 2016 to 2017, the number of overdose deaths increased by 70% (from 83 to 141).
