My Approach to Helping
Everyone has the ability to direct the course of his or her life. Knowing your strengths and limitations enables you to draw on your power to overcome whatever challenges you face. Internal stumbling blocks, once identified and removed, allow you to live life in ways that are more satisfying and more complete.
Universal developmental life stages present their own unique challenges. How well you manage one stage determines how well you will manage the next. If one stage has been or is particularly difficult for you, you may get stuck. Therapy provides a container in which to explore and redo areas in your life that hinder your progression.
My approach to therapy is whatever will help you. Once I assess what you need, I draw on my education and experience and pull from the hundreds of approaches available to help you through whatever is causing you pain.
More Info About My Practice
I am double mastered in marriage and family therapy and pastoral counseling. If you are spiritual or religous and place your problems or concerns within that context, my training and experience allows me to work with you within your specific spiritual or religous belief system.
In addition to psychotherapy and pastoral counseling, my training allows me to work with separation and divorce in the following three areas: Collaborative Divorce coaching, mediation, "New Ways for Families." In addition, I am a co-parenting specialist, crisis intervention counselor, and ceritificated trauma specialist.
