My Approach to Helping
Lori's interest includes working with couples, adults and adolescents. She is trained in working with compulsive and addictive behaviors, infidelity, depression and anxiety and how these issues affect relationships. She has also been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral therapy and includes these modalities in teaching new skills, such as mindfulness, interpersonal communication, boundaries and assertiveness skills. Lori uses these skills to help with modifying destructive behavior, while also focusing on the underlying core issues that reinforce these behaviors. These core issues can include trauma, family of origin issues, shame, grief, low self esteem and unresolved anger. Lori combines traditional talk therapy with experiential techniques to access often stuffed emotions and to express unhealthy emotions in a healthy, intimate and healing way.
