My Approach to Therapy

Have you ever wondered why happiness seems just out of reach, even when everything “looks fine” on the outside? Or why self-doubt creeps in when you least expect it? Therapy can help you uncover the answers, untangle the past, and reclaim a sense of confidence and peace. My Approach: I divide therapy into three clear sections to make the process easier to understand, and to give you a roadmap toward lasting change, an approach that has been shown to help clients make meaningful progress: Feel Better: We begin by helping you regulate your nervous system using emotional regulation skills and grounding exercises, so you can feel calmer and more present. Understand & Process: Next, we identify the root causes of distress and process difficult experiences using eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), helping you untangle past trauma and reduce its impact on your present. Build Resilience: Finally, we focus on your strengths and values, helping you cultivate resilience, confidence, and a clearer sense of self, so you can move forward with purpose. I work with you to understand why previous efforts may not have worked, unlearn the self-doubt that has held you back, and embrace the truth of your worthiness. Together, we create goals that help you reach your full potential. I am a Licensed Associate Counselor with a master’s degree from Grand Canyon University. I bring trauma-informed care, a deep understanding of human behavior, and training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), including advanced certification in Recent and Group Traumatic Episode Protocol, to provide therapy that is both supportive and effective. I provide therapy in Scottsdale, Arizona and online across Arizona.

My Practice & Services

I offer individual therapy sessions via telehealth and in person across Arizona. In addition to weekly therapy, I offer intensive EMDR sessions for clients seeking focused, accelerated trauma processing. Intensives may be helpful for individuals with time constraints, those preparing for major life transitions, or clients who feel ready to address specific traumatic experiences in a more concentrated format. My practice operates on a private-pay model, allowing flexibility, personalized care, and a focus on the therapeutic relationship rather than insurance-driven limitations. I am committed to creating a safe, affirming space where clients feel supported, respected, and empowered throughout their healing process. This is a supervised private practice. It is owned andor managed by a master’s level, non-independent licensee under Board-approved clinical supervision pursuant to A.A.C. R4-6-211.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

My path to becoming a therapist wasn?t shaped by perfection, it was shaped by real life. I?ve been married for many years, and I understand the work, communication, and growth that long?term relationships require. As a mom to children with challenges like anxiety and dyslexia, I know what it?s like to advocate, to worry, and to celebrate every small victory. And through my caregiving roles with elderly family members and patients, I?ve learned patience, tenderness, and the emotional complexity of supporting someone through decline. These experiences didn?t just teach me empathy, they transformed the way I show up in the therapy room. I understand overwhelm, self?doubt, and the pressure to hold everything together because I?ve lived it. My personal journey helps me meet clients with compassion, clarity, and a deep respect for the resilience they often don?t see in themselves.
