My Approach to Helping
I create a safe container within which people can go deeply within themselves and discover aspects of their character that impede healthy expression of their true selves. Through the breathwork, people release their armoring and restore the natural pulsation of their being. I love this work and am excited to be offering this deep approach to lasting healing.

I initially do a comprehensive intake of the critical issues plaguing your life and begin to investigate all aspects of your whole body/mind functioning. I work with your presenting issues and character presentation as doorways into deeper issues that inhibit you from attaining your goals and living a healthy, happy, creative and loving life. Through this work, you will develop the deep awareness and insight you need in order to make important and healthy changes now.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

The therapeutic relationship is a unique opportunity to receive mirroring and reflection from another person that serves two primary purposes. On one hand, the therapeutic relationship can be viewed as an example, or prototype, of how the client relates to others. Communication styles such as laughing over painful material, or not looking the other person in the eye when talking can be pointed out, which brings greater awareness to these relationship styles and supports the client in going into the deeper feelings that these adaptive styles cover up. In addition, the therapeutic relationship is an opportunity for the client to have an experience of another person as offering the safety, 100% attention, and loving honesty that is often missing or insufficient as a child. Thus, through greater insight into maladaptive relationship styles as reflected in the therapeutic relationship while having an experience of positive and authentic attention often results in deep healing and restoration of expression of soul.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

A great deal of mental health disturbance stems from not receiving sufficient nurturing and caring attachment in early infancy and childhood. When a child cries out to have their needs met, and they are not, the child develops adaptive patterns of behavior such as shutting down, uncontained emotionality, or self-soothing. These maladaptive patterns overlay and build upon each other and restrict the original impulse of the true Self. At any stage of development, the child’s needs can be thwarted for a multitude of reasons. When this happens, defensive blocks and facades are created in order to adapt and survive. These defenses and facades impede the original and true impulse of the Self that is yearning for expression, leading to feelings and behaviors such as sadness, anger, impulsivity, and anxiety. The adaptive patterns of behavior are often unconscious as adults, yet are reflected in present-day relationships.
