My Approach to Helping

With more than thirty years of counseling experience, I use a number of approaches to identify the issues that need to be addressed. I particularly make use of dreams and other unconscious material to help identify ways forward for the person, or couples who feel they've met an impasse in their development. I trust that in addition to what we do together there are many sources of wisdom on the margins of our lives that, when attended to, help move us toward healing and wholeness.

I'm an Episcopal priest, a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, a Certified Jungian analyst and a Research Psychoanalyst under the California Medical Board.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

People enter therapy with a story about their lives composed of their past experiences and how they've interpreted them. Often those interpretations are distortions that have led to an impasse in their lives where the story they have told about their lives or relationships is no longer effective. They need to find a new story to move forward. I help them discover that particularly as a Jungian analyst who works with unconscious material, particularly dreams, that offers each person a new way of moving forward in the next phase of their lives.
