My Approach to Helping
It's only human to feel sad, anxious, or overwhelmed at some point in our life. We might have known someone whose life has changed because of emotional problems, relationship conflict, or even drug/alcohol abuse. Left unattended, the downward spiral caused by these concerns can impact our personal well-being and leave us feeling unhappy, or worse, depressed. Life should not have to be characterized by uncertainty, insecurity, and instability. It's during such times that people come for therapy.

As a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, I designed my practice to help high-functioning teenagers, college students, adults, couples/families, professionals, and executives address and overcome these barriers.

People have sought out my practice for a variety of reasons. Many of my clients felt lost or alone with their emotions and were looking for a safe, private space in which to work through them. Some wanted to determine whether their drug or alcohol use was really a "problem". Others were looking for more personalized therapy after struggling with "one size fits all" treatment programs that failed to see them as individuals. Many others wanted to understand how their emotional problems walked hand-in-hand with their substance use. Whatever the reason, they wished for things to be different.

More Info About My Practice
I offer my clients therapeutic services that are flexible and personalized given the nature of their problems. In other words, I meet people where they are at in the change process using techniques that are tailored to their needs. This might include the use of exploratory psychodynamic therapy, action-oriented cognitive-behavioral therapy, or evidence-based drug and alcohol therapy.

Therapy offers those struggling and their loved ones an opportunity to halt this progression and reclaim their lives. In my experience, I've found that when people believe in the process of therapy and--more importantly--themselves, incredibly meaningful changes can occur.

My Therapy Focus

I use a flexible approach with my work and will apply a mixture of techniques to help you achieve your goals. This might include the use of individual therapy, couples therapy, or family therapy. Some of the therapeutic approaches I use include: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts color our emotions and influence our behaviors. Consequently, when people’s thinking becomes self-defeating, distorted, or negative, this can lead to overwhelming emotional/behavioral problems. A major focus of CBT is to help people identify unhealthy patterns of thinking/acting, evaluate healthier alternatives, and begin to implement these new ways of being. Psychodynamic Therapy A goal of psychodynamic therapy is to help people understand how their past experiences influence their present behavior. It focuses on the psychological “roots” of our emotional concerns by examining such things as unresolved conflicts or problematic relationships. Couples & Family Therapy Couples (married or not) and family therapy both emphasize relationships as an important factor in psychological health. Each helps people to resolve conflicts by developing tools such as increasing communication skills, negotiating differences, problem solving and even arguing in a healthier way. Evidence-Based Drug & Alcohol Therapy The focus of drug & alcohol treatment is to help people who are struggling with addiction change their lifestyle to prevent serious problems from hap
