What's My Approach to Therapy?

Carl Golden is a Nationally Certified Counselor with a view of psychotherapy and coaching that serves many purposes: healing, learning, growth, guidance, support, mentoring, mediation and more. However, the primary purpose is to foster wellbeing. My focus is to help individuals, couples or families recover wellbeing by facilitating the soulful work of counseling andor coaching mindfully, holistically and integrally.

At SoulCraft, counseling and coaching are concerned with one's experience of life as well as one's aspirations. Each client is engaged within his or her life context--psychologically, physically, vocationally, socially, culturally and spiritually. This holistic approach serves the SoulCraft principle that healing, self-fulfillment and happiness naturally arise as we integrate the various aspects of who we are into a genuine path towards becoming our true self.

As we become more aligned with our true selves, we become more enchanted with life. We grow more appreciative of the present moment. We relish the sensual and natural worlds. We embrace what and whom we love. We become more open to the mysteries and wonders of Nature, and our lives are inspired by soulful purpose.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychotherapy helps with mental health or soulful issues that are beyond your ability to heal or manage on your own . . . at least initially. When anxiety, depression, grief, confusion, fear, addiction or other difficult emotions or behaviors begin to shake your world, then reach out for guidance.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Many of us were raised to deal with our issues by ourselves, or at least amongst friends and family. This is sound advice for ordinary matters, but when mental health issues arise, most people don't really understand what is going on and how to help. Going to a friend, spouse or family member might help--certainly support is necessary, but untrained people may unwittingly do more harm than good, and confidence is not guaranteed. A professional will have information, insight and techniques that can help cultivate healing and improving your ability to function, and your sensitive information is protected by confidentiality laws. Consequentially, seeking professional help is not about being weak, it is about being smart.
